Tiger attacks woman at Tinsukia’s Guijan, people flay Forest Department’s ‘inaction’
GUWAHATI, Nov 19: A woman was injured after she was attacked, reportedly by a Royal Bengal Tiger, at Nalani Tea Estate in Tinsukia’s Guijan.
The woman, identified as 35-year-old Lakshmi Kulangiya, was attacked by the big cat when she was plucking tea leaves at the tea garden.
The injured woman was rushed to Tinsukia Civil Hospital.
People said a couple of tigers have been straying into the precincts of the tea garden and its nearby areas from the Dibru Saikhowa National Park. They alleged that despite repeated complaints no measures have been taken by the Forest Department to cage them.
