People woke up to their worst dreams today morning, finding themselves engulfed in a white blanket of smog as visibility dipped to almost zero at many places in the morning hours.

Low visibility impacted train and flight services with authorities warning about cancellations in case the situation worsens further.

There are reports of trains running late as a result of the smog while air services have also been partially hit.

IndiGo Airlines, in an early morning alert on ‘X’, said: “This morning, winter fog may impact flights to/from Amritsar, Varanasi & Delhi. Do keep a tab on your flight status https://bit.ly/31paVKQ before heading to the airport. Also, please allow additional travel time as road traffic may move slower than usual due to low visibility. Thank you for your patience, and we wish you a smooth journey.”
