Historic low! Team India whitewashed at home for first-time ever in a 3-Test series as Kiwis win Mumbai test by 25 runs

GUWAHATI, Nov 3: India slumped to their worst Test series performance at home, getting whitewashed for in a three-match Test series on Indian soil the first time ever as New Zealand won the Mumbai test by 25 runs, wrapping up the series 3-0.

Chasing a target of 147 runs for victory on Day 3, India were bundled out for 121 runs in 29.1 overs.

Rishabh Pant’s 57-ball 64 went in vain and the Kiwis, who had won their first Test in India in 12 years in the first test at Bengaluru, decimated the Indian team to claim a historic series whitewash on Indian soil.

Ajaz Patel scalped five wickets in the second innings, adding to the six wickets he picked up in the first innings to wreck the Indian battling line-up.

This is the first time India have been whitewashed in a Test series at home since South Africa’s 2-0 win in 1999-2000, and the first-ever 3-0 whitewash at home.

Ajaz Patel was named the Player of the Match while Kiwi batter Bill Young was named Player of the Series.
