Elephant electrocuted to death near Orang National Park
GUWAHATI, Nov 7: Another elephant, a mother pachyderm, died near the Orang National Park after it came into contact with electricity wires installed near paddy fields in the village.
The elephant, believed to part of a herd, had come down to the paddy fields at Barbhagia village near Borsola in Sonitpur district last night when it came into contact with the electricity wires erected illegally to ward off elephants.
The carcass of the elephant was spotted in the middle of the paddy field while a calf, believed to be its offspring, was seen wailing near it.
