Records galore as India annihilate Bangladesh in 3rd T20I

GUWAHATI, Oct 13: Records tumbled one after another as Team India registered a scintillating 113-run victory over Bangladesh in the third and final T20 international of the three-match series at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday.

Here is the list of records that was itched at Hyderabad:

  1. India’s 297/6 is now the highest score by a full-member nation in T20I history eclipsing the previous record of 260/5.
  2. Sanju Samson became the first Indian wicketkeeper to smash a century in T20 internationals
  3. Sanju Samson’s ton in 40 balls is now the fourth fastest century in T20 internationals and second fastest by an Indian, the fastest being by Hitman Rohit Sharma and South African David Miller who reached three figures in 35 balls.
  4. The 47 boundaries – 25 fours and 22 sixes – India hit is the most by any team in Men’s T20Is.
  5. 70 boundaries – 44 fours and 26 sixes – in the entire match by both teams is the third highest in a Men’s T20I.
  6. India’s 82/1 in the first six overs of the innings yesterday is the joint-highest powerplay score. Incidentally, it had been the Men In Blue who had reached the same score losing two wickets during a T20I against Scotland in 2021.
  7. India also slammed the records for the fastest 100, 150 and 200 runs in a T20 international in yesterday’s match.

Lastly, although not a record by any stretch of anyone’s imagination, for cricket fans in Assam, Riyan Parag’s explosive 13-ball 34 runs appaered to be the perfect icing on the cake as India not only registered a memorable victory but a satisfying whitewash over Bangladesh.
