High-level inquiry ordered into Tamil Nadu train collision; 18 trains cancelled
GUWAHATI, Oct 12: Eighteen trains have been cancelled while several others diverted as work to restore normal movement is on on a war footing following the train collission in Tamil Nadu last night.
At least 12 coaches of the 12578 Bagmati Express train — travelling from Mysuru in Karnataka to Darbhanga in Bihar derailed after it rammed into a stationary goods train at Kavarapettai in Tamil Nadu.
The Indian Railways has initiated a high-level inquiry into the mishap. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is also conducting a separate probe to determine the cause of the accident and to look into possible case of subversive activity by anti-social elements.
