Guwahati: GMC launches drive against street vendors, cracker kiosk in late night crackdown
GUWAHATI, Oct 29: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) launched an eviction drive post-midnight Monday, evicting kiosks selling firecrackers for Diwali and other street vendors in the commercial hub of Fancy Bazaar.
Action was taken against those petty shops set up on footpaths which did not adhere to waste management and littered wastes on the road and the pavement.
A GMC official said a shop selling firecracker was also sealed for not renewing its licence and flouting other norms.
“We launched a drive at Fancy Bazaar against street vendors littering wastes on the streets and not adhering to cleanliness norms. A shop which is now selling firecrackers but has not renewed its license has also been sealed.
We will carry out similar drives at GS Road as well,” the GMC official told News Live.
