‘Bigger than Chandigarh’: Assam CM says 167 sq km land freed from encroachers in 3 years
In a significant achievement over the past three years, the Assam government has successfully reclaimed 167 square kilometres of land from encroachers, an area larger than Chandigarh, which spans 114 square kilometres.
This effort, marked by consistent government action and widespread public cooperation, underscores the administration’s commitment to land management.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted this milestone on X, stating, “In the last 3 years, with consistent Govt efforts & cooperation from a large section of society, we have been able to free up 167 Sq. Km of land from encroachers, an area larger than the size of Chandigarh city. We are committed to make every inch of land free from encroachers.”
