Narendra Modi takes oath as Prime Minister for third straight term, council of ministers also sworn-in
GUWAHATI, June 9: Narendra Modi today took oath as Prime Minister for the third straight term with President Droupadi Murmu administering the oath of office and secrecy at a glittering ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Prime Minister Modi, thus, became the second prime minister to take oath on three consecutive terms, equalling the feat of the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru who won in the general elections in 1952, 1957 and 1962.
Along with Prime Minister Modi, thirty cabinet ministers, including Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, JP Nadda, Nirmala Sitharaman, S Jaishankar, Sarbananda Sonowal, also took oath along with five Minister of State (Independent Charge) and 36 Ministers of State.
Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar were inducted into the council of ministers as cabinet ministers.
Kiren Rijiju also took oath as a cabinet minister in the new Union Cabinet.
Hardeep Singh Puri and Mansukh Mandaviya also took the oath of office and secrecy as cabinet ministers
Rajya Sabha MP from Assam Pabitra Margherita also took oath as a Minister of State in the Narendra Modi-led council of ministers.
