Robbers snatch bag with Rs 45 lakh from inside PNB bank in Assam
A group of men snatched a bag containing Rs 45 lakh from two employees of Aditya Agro Foods, a rice mill in Assam’s Nagaon, from inside the Punjab National Bank’s Nagaon branch.
As per inputs, the two workers were waiting near the cash deposit counter inside the bank, when the group of unknown men approached them from behind, snatched the bag and fled the scene.
One of the workers said, “The bank official asked us to wait for some time, so we were waiting near the cash deposit counter. I did not notice that someone was following us. I got a phone call and I was talking over the phone when one person suddenly appeared from behind and snatched the bag of the money and fled the scene.”
The entire incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed in the bank.
Police said that the miscreants have been identified and a search operation to nab them is underway.
An incident of bank robbery has also been reported from the neighbouring state Manipur, where unknown miscreants have allegedly robbed around Rs 20 lakh from the State Bank of India (SBI)’s branch at K Salbung village in Churachandpur.
An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
