Lok Sabha Polls 2024: PM Modi to pay two-day visit to Assam
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday (April 11) informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on April 16 and 17.
PM Modi will arrive in Guwahati on April 16 evening and he will address an election campaign rally in Nalbari for Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) candidate for Barpeta Lok Sabha seat Phani Bhushan Choudhury on April 17.
“On April 16, PM Modi will stay in Guwahati. There is no programme in Guwahati and there will be no roadshow. However, thousands of people is expected to welcome the Prime Minister in Guwahati. On April 17, he will campaign for AGP candidate Phani Bhushan Choudhury in Nalbari. From Nalbari, he will go to Tripura’s Agartala,” Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
Earlier on Tuesday (April 9), Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a public rally in Assam’s Lakhimpur.
Elections for the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam will take place in three phases on April 19, April 26 and May 7.
Parlimentary Constituency-wise Lok Sabha poll 2024 schedule in Assam:
April 19: Kaziranga, Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh, Jorhat
April 26: Darrang-Udalguri, Diphu, Karimganj, Silchar, Nagaon
May 7: Kokrajhar, Dhubri, Barpeta, Guwahati
The counting of votes will be held on June 4.
