First Ram Navami celebration in Ayodhya Ram mandir after 5 centuries

Ram Navami is a vibrant and significant Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Ram, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and a symbol of righteousness, virtue, and courage.

Observed on the ninth day (Navami) of the Chaitra month in the Hindu calendar, which usually falls in March or April, Ram Navami is a time of spiritual reflection, devotion, and joyous festivities across India and among Hindu communities worldwide.

Meanwhile, this is the first Ram Navami after 496 years since 1528, when Lord Shri Ram is in his grand Ayodhya Ram Temple after 5 centuries of sacrifice, penance, and struggle of his devotees.

The festival is marked by special prayers and bhajans (devotional songs) dedicated to Lord Ram, along with readings from the epic Ramayana, which narrates the life and adventures of Ram.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also greeted people on the occasion of Ram Navami on April 17 and said Ayodhya is in incomparable bliss, as this is the first time the festival will be celebrated there after the consecration of the Ram temple.

Ram Navami is extra special this year as the Ayodhya Ram Mandir was inaugurated in January and devotees caught a glimpse of Ram Lalla. The Ram Mandir has witnessed a grand celebration by receiving 1,11,111 kilograms of laddoos in prasad. The ‘Surya Abhishek’ of Lord Ram Lalla took place around 12.15 with the help of high-quality mirror and lenses today.

An official informed that the timings for devotees visiting Ayodhya Ram Mandir have been extended till 11 pm on Ram Navami, April 17. In an official statement, Champat Rai, General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra, said that after Mangala Aarti, Abhishek, Shringar and Darshan will continue simultaneously from 3:30 am in the Brahma Muhurta.
