Assam: Seven abducted miners released, search on for the other 3

Seven abducted miners from a coal mine in Finboro along the Assam-Arunachal border in eastern Assam’s Tinsukia district have been released Superintendent of Police (SP) Kirli Padu of Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh informed. He added that there was no trace of the other three and a massive search operation has been launched to locate them.

He added that information was received that the abducted persons might have been taken towards Longtoi under Manmow police station after their abduction.

According to sources the location of the abduction is a hub of illegal coal mining business for quite some time and various militant outfits demand extortion from the owners of illegal coal business. Therefore, non payment of extortion might be the motive of abduction.
