APSC Cash-for-Job Scam: Two APS officers arrested by SIT
In a swift move against officers whose named had cropped up in connection with the infamous APSC cash-for-jobs scam, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Assam Police formed to probe alleged anomalies arrested two APS officers of the 2013 batch.
The arrested officers are Shahjahan Sarkar and Aishwarya Jeevan Baruah who were among the 34 officers named by Justice (retired) Biplab Sharma commission formed to look into the scandel that came to light in 2016 when many successful candidates including who appeared in the Combined Competitive Examination 2013 were alleged to have indulged in irregular practices with the alleged involvement of Rakesh Paul, the then APSC chairman.
The arrests were made after the one-man commission submitted its report and named 34 officers of the infamous 2013 batch, including the two APS officers arrested today, against whom anomalies were found.
This directive comes as the state government intensifies its efforts to restore the credibility of the prestigious examinations, which have been marred by allegations of irregularities and misconduct.
