Guwahati: Drunk driver rams vehicle into railing of newly inaugurated Zoo Road Flyover, breaks structure atop
Within 24 hours of inauguration of the Shradhanjali Flyover (Zoo Road Flyover) in RG Baruah Road in Guwahati, an alleged ‘drunk’ driver ramped a black SUV into the boundary railing of the flyover and atop the ‘decorative’ structure of the new Zoo-Road flyover.
The incident took place at around midnight on Friday.
A home guard, and a civilian sustained injuries. They were immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment. Police reportedly recovered liquor bottle(s) from the vehicle. The vehicle’s registration number was – AS-01FP-3591.
Amidst the beginning of the festive season, this is a much worrisome mishap caused due to drunk driving as cited by multiple reports citing police sources.
The vehicle was heading towards Ganeshguri from Chandmari.
Passerbys stated that the vehicle was at a very high speed before it collided with the railing in the middle of the flyover.
The name of the accused was not revealed by the Police.
The vehicle has been seized by the police and further investigations have begun.
