Guwahati: Botanical Garden opens for public, Check Entry Timings & Ticket Prices
The newly developed Botanical Garden in Guwahati’s Fancy Bazaar area has opened its gates to the public on Thursday (October 5).
The garden will remain open from 10 AM to 10 PM every day except Wednesdays.
The Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has announced the ticket prices for entry to the botanical garden.
The ticket prices are as follows:
1. Children aged 0-3: Free
2. Children aged 3-10: Rs 20
3. People aged 10-75: Rs 50
4. People aged 75 and above: Free
5. Specially-abled individuals: Free
6. Morning Walk from 5 AM to 8 AM (Registration Compulsory): Free
7. Camera (normal): Rs 100
8. Video Camera/Shooting: Rs 3000/day
Earlier on Sunday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the Botanical Garden at the old jail premises in Fancy Bazar area.
The 11.7 acre Botanical Garden is built at a cost of Rs 58 crore.
The salient features of the Botanical Garden include:
1. Green spaces of 11.77 acres with 2.58 acres of rejuvenated water bodies.
2. Over 85,000 plants, trees, shrubs, bonsai, etc., along with 230+ sustainable, climate tolerant botanical species.
3. Arboretum of 2.08 acres housing special botanical species.
4. An ancient temple, lotus pond and a rejuvenated waterbody on the southern side.
5. Visitors Centre, 2.5 km-jogging track, garden spaces, children play area, yoga corner, ambient music, and jail memorial.
