Guwahati hit & run: Speeding car runs over homeless man at Ganeshguri
GUWAHATI, Sep 19: A man, believed to be homeless who used to spend his nights below the Ganeshguri flyover, was run over by a speeding car in another sensational hit-and-run case to have rocked the capital city of Assam.
CCTV footages showed a black sedan running over the homeless man last last night. The car’s owner is yet to be identified.
Not only did the car run over the man, it dragged him under its wheels for some 100-odd metres after which it sped from the spot.
Police are trying to zero-in on the car and identify the person at its wheels at the time of the accident and then take him or her into custody.
Monday night’s accident comes nearly two years after the infamous hit-and-run case involving model and actor Rajkanya Baruah who had, under the influence of alcohol, ran over her vehicle over nine PWD labourers at the GS Road near Down Town Hospital in Guwahati.
Out of the nine persons seriously injured in the accident, Joseph Marak, who was admitted to the GMCH in a critical condition and had lost both his legs, succumbed to his injuries.
