Massive relief for Aam Aadmi as Govt cuts domestic LPG cylinder prices by Rs 200
GUWAHATI, Aug 29: In a big relief for the common man, the Union Cabinet Tuesday slashed LPG domestic gas cylinder prices by Rs 200 for all users while beneficiaries enrolled under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will get a total subsidy of Rs 400.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur said the decision is a gift from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the women of the country on Onam and Raksha Bandhan.
“M Modi has decided Rs 200 reduction in the price of domestic LPG cylinders for all users. This is a gift from PM Modi to our women on the occasion of Onam and Raksha Bandhan,” he said.
With this, the subsidy for Ujjwala beneficiaries now stands at Rs 400 per LPG cylinder.
This additional subsidy will come into effect from today, the Union minister added.
With this cut in prices, the price of a 14-kg domestic LPG cylinder in Guwahati will now come down to Rs 952 from Rs 1,152 consumers were presently paying. “It’s a big relief for us, particularly when prices of essential commodities are on the rise,” Noyona Das, a resident of Guwahati’s Kahilipara locality, told News Live.
