Lat Mandal in Gohpur caught red handed taking bribe, arrested

GUWAHATI, Aug 7: The drive against corrupt government officials in Assam continues with sleuths of the Vigilance and Anti-corruption department of Assam Police arresting another Lat Mandal after he was caught red handed accepting bribe from a complainant.

Nowshad Ali, Lat Mandal of the office of the Circle Officer, Ghohpur Revenue Circle, Biswanath, was arrested by vigilance sleuths while he was caught accepting bribe from the complainant for processing Namjari at a nearby canteen.

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier warned government officials not to resort to corruption with a special warning to Lat Mandals, many of whom he said were particularly involved in corrupt activities.
