Guwahati: Elderly man killed while going to Mosque in Hatigaon

In a sensational incident, an elderly man was allegedly murdered by two unidentified miscreants while he was on his way to the mosque in Guwahati’s Hatigaon area on Thursday early morning.

The shocking incident took place at Friends Path just few metres away from Hatigaon Police Station.

According to reports, the victim was walking towards the mosque on the morning of July 27 when he was attacked by assailants. The miscreants fled from the scene right after attacking the elderly man.

The deceased, identified as Javed Ali Ahmed, was a retired engineer. Reportedly, he was a member of the mosque committee.

Sources state that Ahmed was thrashed with an iron rod that led to his death. 

The police has reached the site after the incident and are conducting with the investigation.

Meanwhile, a CCTV footage that was acquired that shows two men speed walking through the lane where the attack took place. It is presumed that the men in the footage are the suspected murderers.
