India records 9,355 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours
India continues to witness a declining trend as it logged 9,355 new coronavirus infections, while the active cases have decreased to 57,410 from 61,013, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.
The death toll has increased to 5,31,424 with 26 deaths added to the tally
The daily positivity rate has been recorded at 5.38 per cent and the weekly positivity rate at 5.61 per cent.
The Covid case tally was recorded at 4.49 crore.
The active cases now comprise 0.13 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.69 per cent, the ministry said.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 44,335, 977 while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.18 per cent.
Also, Maharashtra on Wednesday recorded 784 new coronavirus infections and one fatality, the health department said in a bulletin. The state’s COVID-19 case tally rose to 81,63,626, and death toll to 1,48,508. The state had recorded 722 cases and three fatalities on Tuesday.
Mumbai recorded 185 cases. The sole fatality in the state was recorded in Thane city. The case fatality rate in the state is 1.81 per cent. There are 5,233 active cases in Maharashtra now.
As many as 1,099 patients recovered from coronavirus infection since previous evening, taking the tally of recoveries to 80,09,885. The recovery rate in the state is 98.12 per cent. With 17,451 tests conducted since previous evening, the tally of tests rose to 8,69,37,321. At present, the dominant variant of COVID-19 is Omicron XBB.1.16.
A total of 877 cases were found to be infected with this variant which has claimed seven lives in the state so far.
