Assam: 5 arrested from Nagaon & Morigaon for supplying SIM cards to Pakistan agents, 5 more absconding
Guwahati, March 8: Assam Police on Tuesday busted a massive racket involved in anti-national activities by providing SIM cards from different service providers and supplying them to Pakistani agents.
An investigation in this regard was carried out by a central agency during which it was found that 10 persons hailing from Nagaon and Morigaon districts were involved in anti-national activities. The group was found to be involved in procuring SIM Cards from different service providers fraudulently and supplying those to some Pakistani agents, thus working against the integrity and sovereignty of the nation.
An operation launched by Nagaon Police arrested five persons while five more are still on the run.
While Asikul Islam, Badruddin, Mizanur Rahman and Wahiduz Zaman were arrested from various places of Nagaon district, Baharul Islam was arrested from Saruchala village, Moirabari, Morigaon.
Police seized one mobile phone from Asiklul Islam that possesses two IMEI numbers. It is being alleged that sensitive information regarding India’s security was being leaked through the mobile phone via WhatsApp.
Meanwhile, police have seized 18 mobile phones, 136 SIM cards, a fingerprint scanner machine, a CPU besides several incriminating documents from the possession of the arrested persons.
Efforts are on to nab the other absconding members of the racket.
