Kokrajhar DTO, involved in massive corruption arrested in late-night snoop; Rs 36 lakh recovered
Kokrajhar Police arrested Kokrajhar District Transport Officer (DTO) Sameswar Brahma Muchahary in a swift late-night crackdown on charges of illegal collection of money from trucks besides recovering a mammoth Rs 36 lakh from his residence.
The recovered cash is believed to be part of the illegally collected money Muchahary and his two associates, who have also been arrested during the late-night crackdown, were collecting from truckers regularly.
Taking to Twitter, Assam Special DGP for law and order, Gyanendra Pratap Singh, said further lawful action is being initiated against the tainted officer.

They other arrested associates of Muchahary have been identified as Richard Muchahary and Manoj Basumatary and the trio is accused of running the illegal syndicate at Srirampur inter-state check post.
Officials further informed that they recovered cash amounting to Rs 1.5 lakhs from the residence of Richard Muchahary as well.
It may be noted that Kokrajhar Police has been taking tough steps against such officials. On Tuesday, as many as 13 people were arrested by Kokrajhar Police.
