Assam: All govt schools to get new infrastructure
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is a Man on a Mission to revamp the infrastructure in government schools in the state. As part of this efforts, Chief Minister Sarma visited 5 government schools in Guwahati and reviewed the infrastructure.
Visiting the Sonaram school, Chief Minister Sarma said that the school will undergo transformations as far as physical infrastructure is concerned. The Sonaram School will get a new playground with flood lights, Sarma added.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Kamrup Academy established in 1930 and reviewed its infrastructure. The Assam Chief Minister said, “I had the privilege of seeking education from this historical institute in my childhood. The school building will be reconstructed and it will get a new auditorium.”

The Chief Minister also visited Tarini Choudhury Govt Girls’ HS & MP School established in 1945. Chief Minister Sarma after reviewing the infrastructure of the school said that a new building and auditorium can be still built by having adequate open space.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also visited the historic Cotton Collegiate Govt HS School at Panbazar to inspect its current condition and prospects of replacing the old building with a new one.
Soon after this, Chief Minister directed PWD officials to prepare the design for the construction of a new building.
The Assam Chief Minister informed that all Government schools will get new infrastructure. As a part of this Mission, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma added that plans are being prepared at the micro-level and will be expanded in the days to come.
Education minister Ranoj Pegu, Education Adviser to Assam Government Nani Gopal Mahanta and other senior officials of Education and PWD accompanied Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during his visits to the schools.
