Assam CM distributes appointment letters to 11,236 recruits in 24 departments in Guwahati
Guwahati: Fulfiling the promise of providing 1 lakh jobs to the people of Assam, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday handed over appointment letters to 11,236 recruits in 24 departments.
The appointment letters were given out at a ceremonial event conducted at Khanapara Veterinary Field in Guwahati today.
Talking to the Microblogging site, Twitter, CM Sarma wrote, “As part of our commitment to provide Govt jobs to 1 lakh youth in our State, distributed appointment letters to 11,236 recruits in 24 depts. We carried out the entire recruitment process purely on merit and in a transparent manner. My best wishes to all new appointees!”

Recruitment process for filling up 26,000 Class III & IV posts has already started. Advertisement for 10,000 more posts will be published soon & steps will be taken for self-employment of 2 lakh youth.

The Home and Political Department recieved 5,335 of the total appointments, followed by the School Education Department with 3,811 and the Higher and Technical Education Department with 927.
It is to be noted that as many as 304 new employees have been hired by the Public Works Department (PWD), while 299 positions in the Health and Family Welfare Department, 277 in the Panchayat and Rural Department, and 137 in the Irrigation Department will be filled.
