Assam reports 161 fresh COVID-19 cases; highest in four months

Guwahati: A total of 161 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Assam, the highest single-day tally in over four months, taking the positive cases in the state to 7, 25,197, a National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin said on Monday.

No fresh death due to the virus was reported with the toll remaining unchanged at 6,639.

Apart from that, 1,347 coronavirus-infected patients have died due to other reasons since 2020, the bulletin said.

Assam, which had been witnessing a spike in COVID-19 cases since mid-June, last reported over 100 cases in mid-February.

On Sunday, 110 people tested positive for the virus.

i1631 tests were done on Monday, the bulletin stated.

The positivity rate stood at 9.87 per cent and the recovery rate at 98.80% per cent.
