Assam Gaurav Awardee Kalpana Boro Passes Away, CM Sarma expresses condolence
Guwahati: Assam Gaurav Awardee Kalpana Boro, noted Anganwadi worker and Assam Gaurav awardee, passed away on Sunday due to cancer.
According to sources, Boro had been battling cancer for a long time.
She breathed her last at her residence in Rowta under Assam’s Udalguri district.
Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed condolences for the passing of Kalpana Boro on Sunday saying that, the news of the passing away of Kalpana Boro, an active social worker and awardee of the ‘Assam Gaurav’ award, is saddening. Her commitment to social service will remain an example for all. I wish her eternal peace and extend my deepest condolences to her bereaved family.

Kalpana Boro is known for efficient rapport-building with the community as an Anganwadi worker. She showed great performance in providing Supplementary Nutrition & regular growth monitoring of SAM (severe acute malnutrition) children.
Boro was also instrumental in effectively conducting preschool education for all-around development of children.
Earlier this year in January, Boro was awarded the ‘Assam Gaurav Award’ by the state government for public service.
