‘Violence has taken a backseat in Karbi Anglong’, says PM Modi

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a mega push for development in Assam. PM Modi today addressed a mega rally at Loringthepi in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district.

The event saw PM Modi laying the foundations stones for the Veterinary College & Hospital of Manja, Agriculture College at Kongla in West Karbi Anlgong district, and a model government college at Umpanai.

Along with these, PM Modi also laid the foundation stone for 2,985 Amrit Sarovar for water conservation. The Amrit Sarovar project aims to conserve water in 75 water bodies providing proper water supply to a one-hectare area in each district.

Meanwhile, addressing the rally, Prime Minister Modi said that the Centre is making efforts to resolve the inter-state boundary disputes in the Northeast. PM Modi said Assam and Meghalaya have set an example that can be followed in other cases.

PM Modi also stated that the removal of the AFSPA in several parts of the Northeastern states points to the improvement of the law and order scenario in the region.

He further added that while the AFSPA has been removed from 23 districts of Assam, work is underway to get it removed from the parts where it is still being implemented.

And, Prime Minister Modi also said that violence and unrest have taken a backseat in Karbi Anglong and have been replaced with applause for development.

He added that Boro Peace Accord opened new doors to peace in the region, adding that efforts are on to usher peace in other parts of the northeast.

Besides, Prime Minister Modi also paid obeisance to Lachit Barphukan on his 400th birth year. He said that it was indeed a blessing that the country is celebrating the 75th year of Independence on Lachit Barphukan’s 400th birth year.
