Assam: PM Modi addresses ‘Peace, Unity and development rally’ in Karbi Anglong

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in  Diphu, at Kari Anglong district of Assam on Thursday. 

PM Modi addresses a massive crowd at the “Peace, Unity and Development” rally at Diphu in Karbi Anglong district. 

Addressing the rally PM Modi said that it is the love and affection of the people of Assam which brings him here.

He also said that in the states where there is a double engine government, works are done with the spirit of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas’

PM Modi laid the foundation stone of projects worth more than Rs 500 crore — Veterinary College (Diphu), Degree College (West Karbi Anglong) and Agricultural College (Kolonga, West Karbi Anglong), which will bring new opportunities for skilling and employment in the region

Expressing happiness over the development of northeast regions, PM Modi said, “Today when someone visits northeast and witnesses the rapid development taking place in the region, they also feel proud. We have understood the problems of the region.”

He said that the Government of India is beginning the project of building ‘Amrit Sarovar’ in every district of the country along with the celebrations of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

“The work of building more than 2,600 ‘Amrit Sarovar’ has begun. Such water bodies have a rich tradition in the tribal society. With this, water reservoirs will be created in every village, and they will also become a source of income for the people,” PM Modi said.

The prime minister also laid the foundation stone for more than 2,950 Amrit Sarovar projects. The state will develop these Amrit Sarovars at a cumulative cost of around Rs 1,150 crore

Notably, the Assam government has declared a state holiday in two districts for April 28. 

At around 01:45 pm, PM Modi will reach Assam Medical College in Dibrugarh and dedicate Dibrugarh Cancer Hospital to the nation. 

Later, at around 3 pm, he will attend a public function at Khanikar ground in Dibrugarh, where he will dedicate six more cancer hospitals to the nation and lay the foundation stone for seven new cancer hospitals

The prime minister will inaugurate seven cancer hospitals completed under phase 1 of the project. These cancer Hospitals are built at Dibrugarh, Kokrajhar, Barpeta, Darrang, Tezpur, Lakhimpur, and Jorhat

He will also lay the foundation stone of seven new cancer hospitals at Dhubri, Nalbari, Goalpara, Nagaon, Sivasagar, Tinsukia and Golaghat to be constructed under phase 2 of the project.

Meanwhile, the news of the seven new cancer hospitals in Assam has brought a wave of relief and happiness among the people. With the seven cancer hospitals set to be inaugurated today by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, people celebrated the development yesterday evening by lighting earthen lamps in Lakhimpur, Mangaldoi, and Barpeta, the cities which are getting the new cancer hospitals.

People in Lakhimpur yesterday lit up about 1000 earthen lamps to mark the arrival of the new cancer hospital in town.

On the other hand, a thousand earthen lamps were also lit up in the town of Mangaldoi yesterday evening with the town set to get a cancer hospital from today onwards. Mangaldoi MP Dilip Saikia was also present at the venue to light a lamp along with the rest of the people.

People also lit up scores of earthen lamps in Barpeta which is also getting a new cancer hospital today. Joining the scores of people in lighting earthen lamps were Barpeta DC Tejprasad Bhuchal and other top officials.
